Dr. Terri Shelton is Professor Emerita and Executive Director of Spartan Strategies, Inc., a support organization to advance innovation at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she previously served as the Vice Chancellor for Research and Engagement and held the Carol Jenkins Mattocks Distinguished Professorship. While at UNCG, she oversaw the establishment of NC’s first and still the only 4 year certificate post-secondary education program for students with intellectual disabilities and serves on the national task force working on establishing an accreditation process for these programs. She is a founding member and serves on the Executive Board of the Institute for Patient and Family Centered Care, which advances the understanding and practice of patient- and family-centered care in partnership with patients, families, and health care professionals, integrating these concepts into all aspects of health care. Her research has focused on bridging research, policy and evidence-based practice to create partnerships that build the capacity of communities, families and youth, service providers, researchers and policymakers.
