Farming
Peacehaven’s farm isn’t just land. It’s a living classroom — a place where people learn, practice, and grow together.

A MAGNET FOR COMMUNITY
At Peacehaven, the farm draws people of all abilities into shared work, shared meals, and shared purpose. Residents, staff, volunteers, and visitors come together here — building relationships that turn a place into a community.
A LIVING CLASSROOM
The farm is a hands-on classroom for the RISE & SHINE programs. Through real work in real settings, participants build skills, confidence, and independence — learning by doing, side-by-side with others.
Participants learn planting, crop care, harvesting, composting, customer interaction, and teamwork — translating farm work into professional habits and workplace competencies.
Farming tasks and pop-up markets serve as pathways into supported work experiences that align with participants’ interests and goals.
The farm provides a natural setting for SHINE activities that encourage exploration, social participation, and discovery of new strengths.
A PRACTICE OF ABUNDANCE
What we grow is meant to be shared. The farm nourishes Peacehaven and extends outward through partnerships with organizations such as Backpack Beginnings and Second Harvest Food Bank; reflecting our belief that abundance grows when it’s given away.
GROWING TOGETHER
Peacehaven’s organic farm is also part of the Care Farming Network, a national coalition of agricultural-based programs using therapeutic farming practices to increase health, social connection, and economic opportunities for people of all abilities
