Peacehaven Community Farm has hired Neal Sharpe as Chief Strategy Officer effective June 1. In this role, Neal will manage the planning and implementation of Peacehaven’s next phase of growth. This will include developing a master plan for the farm that will include construction of a community center and additional housing.
“Neal comes to Peacehaven at a crucial time as we enter our next chapter,” said Peacehaven CEO Phelps Sprinkle. “His generous spirit, community development background, and forward-thinking mindset are exactly what this organization needs, and I’m thrilled he’s joined the team."
Neal is no stranger to Peacehaven. He was heavily involved at Peacehaven in 2016 when he was the Associate Pastor at The Walk in Greensboro. He left Greensboro in 2016 to join The United Methodist Church in Seattle, Washington. His most recent position was Director of Asset Assessment and Strategic Deployment for the Greater Northwest Area of The United Methodist Church. In this role, Neal oversaw the strategy and usage of properties and assets across Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska for over 450 properties to maintain, redevelop, reuse, and reallocate resources for communities and congregations.
Neal is excited to learn from Peacehaven as he brings his gifts and leadership to the community.
“To say that Peacehaven has potential is an incredible understatement,” said Neal. “There is fertile soil that will allow the farm to thrive but also an opportunity for Peacehaven to be a place that provides inclusion, advocacy, and meaning for the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) community across the region. I believe that relationships and community are at the genesis of change, and the construction of a Community Center and additional Core Member housing will provide opportunities for the broader community to learn, explore, discover, and participate in what life can look like on the Farm.”
